熊刚如1941年2月出生于江西丰城， 1964 年毕业于景德镇陶瓷学院美术系， 1988 年被评为高级工艺美术师，享受国务院 “ 政府特殊津贴 ” 专家， 1996 年获 “ 中国工艺美术大师 ” 称号， 1999 年被评为研究员。，系中国陶瓷协会陈设艺术陶瓷专业委员会主任委员，江西省工艺美术学会副理事长、景德镇市美术家协会副主席。
熊钢如在青花、色釉、新彩、综合装饰方面均有所长。他的作品：立意深远，内涵深遂，以简驭繁，用笔老练，墨色凝重，气势雄浑，具有很高的欣赏和珍藏价值。他擅长陶瓷雕塑，涉及城雕、浮雕、瓷雕。代表作有：雕塑《钟馗》、色釉装饰《大吉图》、瓷雕《舵手》、釉里红陶艺《海棠》。
熊钢如的作品注重立意，讲究内涵，以简驭繁，大气不拘。
熊钢如曾任北京人民大会堂江西厅改造副总设计，并参与宝麟尊设计制作。策划和参与江西省人民政府送香港特区政府成立礼品紫归牡怀图；设计江西省人民政府送澳门特区政府成立礼品百荷图。
熊钢如的作品祖国万岁－－牡丹颂（瓷艺）获中国艺术研究院“共和国社会主义艺术五十年研讨会”一等奖。
二零一零年岁次庚寅，即中国人俗称的“虎年”。虎系“四灵瑞征之一，向有青龙、白虎、玄武、朱雀为祯祥之说。而虎则以”高崖方发啸，绝壑自生风“的五者形象，誉称”傲视群雄，唯群独尊“的百兽之首。
中国工艺美术大师，景德镇瓷雕艺术家熊刚如先生其塑造的山林猛虎不仅形体结构准确，而且赋以其深刻的精神内涵。为实现山虎的傲气，大师重在眼、口、耳三处做足文章，其”虎视眈眈“；其口”高啸怒吼“，其耳”警觉储势“；形象地表现虎之悍勇之气，雄霸啸之势和凌强之风。兼之以高温虎斑釉通体敷彩，黄章黑斑，更使虎之毛色逼真神似，以独特的立体造型语言、深邃的文化底蕴、娴熟的工艺技法，为贺岁生肖献上了倾情力作。.
